Finish work

Upon completion of the wood working, I finish my guns in the following manner:

1. The gun is hung vertically from my shop ceiling.

2. I vacuum the pores and orifices of the gun stock to remove deep imbedded sawdust.

3. Wearing rubber gloves I scrub down the gun stock with ethyl alcohol to remove any natural wood oils as well as skin oils from handling.

4. 2 coats of water thin "Smith's Penetrating Epoxy Sealer" are applied 24 hours apart to fully saturate the wood pores.

5. A finish coat of molasses thick, UV stabilized, "Envirotex" is sponge brushed over the gun stock and allowed to dry 24 hours before handling. A full cure is achieved about 48-72 hours after application and has a flexible yet durable feel.
